What happened
At the BlizzCon opening ceremony on 12 September 2026, Blizzard announced STARCRAFT: a story-driven open-world science-fiction shooter set in the Koprulu Sector, with a release target of spring 2030. [A]
Dan Hay introduced it from the stage as “something new: an open-world shooter where every step is earned. Not from above, but down on the ground, in the mud, in the fire.” [B]
What was shown
A cinematic called “Dominion”, and no gameplay. [C] [D] “Dominion” is the title of the cinematic, not a subtitle for the game, which carries no number and no subtitle. Every mechanic discussed since comes from interviews, not from footage.
The description published with the game reads: “The sons and daughters of the Dominion answered the call when mankind needed them most. Their courage held the line. Their sacrifice bought us another day. Now the call comes to you. Carry their strength forward. No matter the cost.” [B]
